Description
The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, situated close to the Main Train Station, is the museum’s main building. Besides the collections at the Toni-Areal site in the dynamic, trendy quarter of Zürich-West, it features temporary exhibitions on the themes of design, visual communication and architecture.
The exhibition also presents highlights or collections of Swiss design icons. These include the Rex vegetable peeler, the Swiss Army Knife by Victorinox, and typefaces such as “Helvetica”, to name but a few.
Even the main building itself – which is listed as a building of historical importance – is interesting for architecture enthusiasts. The modern building from the 1930s is one of the best preserved examples of the Neues Bauen architectural style in Switzerland.
