The quarter around Langstrasse is known for its multicultural 24-hour stores, international snack outlets, and countless bars and clubs. Not really the place, therefore, where you would expect to find a sophisticated restaurant serving first-class cuisine. But then again the head chef and manager at the Restaurant Le Chef is anything but conventional: Meta Hiltebrand is renowned in Switzerland as a TV chef and attracts people’s attention not only because of her dyed-orange hair.

Meta Hiltebrand’s flamboyant and somewhat eccentric style is reflected in her restaurant, too. Violet walls and daring taste experiments surprise both the eye and the palate. But it has proved to be a recipe for success for the young chef: it is worth reserving a table if you want to pay the Le Chef a visit ‒ for the restaurant is very popular.
